I host 5 UT 4.2 Servers with B3 support at home. (4 with bots [10,10,10,12]; 1 Jump) They all are running in a Virtual Machine (Virtualbox) together with one mysql, mumble, apache & FTP server. The OS is Windows XP pro (special prepeared). The VM uses one Core of my i5 machine (WIn 7pro) and use 4 GB RAM. The i5 is my desktop computer where I also work & play with.
The VM itself is installed at an extra 2,5 ´´ "older" Notebook HDD (120GB) .
I tried to get the maximum performance with the smalest expense and little power consumption.
This is more a test enviroment as a pro hosting but it works fine
Hi pipi so it seems like you run them on a vurtual machine and also do you run them as start server in your lan with windows connected to ubuntu because we run just the iourtded shortcut it seems like you run them in the blue screen with start server am i correct?
Yes, servers run in a Virtual Machine with modified Win XP pro installed. I dont use any Linux for hosting any server, only for programming, testing and cross compiling. Snail use a full Linux enviroment I use a full Windows enviroment.
Additionally I use a self compiled modified server binary. It is about 120k smaller as the original from FS but this should not really care.
The blue window is the console screen from UrT if you start the Quake3-UrT-Ded.exe
If you really want a good(stable) bot functionality without crashes then use 4.2.
